Pumpkin carving
I’ve been caught up in an office Star Wars themed pumpkin-off, and decided to go with something relatively straightforward for my first attempt at carving. Oh wait, no, I decided to try making a pumpkin Death Star…
I had a look online for some kind of tutorial and tried to roughly follow the guide here.
Here's the 'before' shot:
Clearly not the belle of the pumpkin ball, I know, but it still deserves a chance to fulfill its Halloween destiny! Plus the marked bit looked like a great place to put a Death Star laser.
Here's some work-in-progress:
Finished! One completed Death Star pumpkin.
Time to break out the tripod and attempt an in-the-dark picture. It didn't end up winning the competition, but I don't think it's too bad for a first attempt, if I do say so myself - it definitely could have turned out worse!
It probably could have done with lots more detail on the panels, but I was short on time!
Pumpkin polymer clay
I also brushed the dust off of the polymer clay box so that I could make these little guys:
I've written my first attempt at a tutorial, if you wanted to have a go at making some pumpkin charms for yourself! Check it out here.
I'm not sure whether I'll actually have time to make anything with them before Halloween, but at least they'll be ready for next year!
Pumpkin everything
This time of year always reminds me of our honeymoon trip to America. Halloween is obviously a far bigger deal there than it is over here (although we seem to be working hard on catching up) and this was seemingly the perfect time to visit Salem, Massachusetts, where there seemed to be pumpkins on every available surface – it was amazing! I thought I’d put up a couple of pictures of the decorations to show everyone how beautiful it was.
